Prolonged Sitting Associated With Higher Cancer Mortality Risk in UK Biobank Study
An observational study of 91,292 UK Biobank participants found that each additional daily hour of prolonged, uninterrupted sedentary behavior was associated with a 9% higher risk of cancer death. Replacing an hour of prolonged sitting with light activity was associated with a 12% lower risk, but the study cannot establish that sitting directly caused these outcomes.
