Higher Fitness Linked to Better Speech-in-Noise Performance in Early Study
An ongoing Northeastern University study has found that participants with higher cardiorespiratory fitness performed about 15% better on tasks requiring them to understand speech amid background noise. The preliminary result shows an association, not that exercise causes better hearing or speech perception, and researchers are preparing intervention and brain-imaging phases.
