Early-Adult Neighborhood Conditions Linked to Midlife Coronary Calcification

A longitudinal analysis from the CARDIA study found that people exposed to more adverse neighborhood social conditions in early adulthood were more likely to develop coronary artery calcification by midlife. The association was stronger among Black participants than white participants, but the findings do not establish that neighborhood conditions directly caused the calcification.
